Students with disabilities

The University provides a range of support for students with disabilities to help them get the maximum benefit from university life.

Disability and learning support

The Disability Support and Learning Support services offer professional support and advice to all registered students, including:

  • Support for students with dyslexia, dyspraxia and other specific learning difficulties, including specialist individual tuition, effective learning workshops and liaison with departments and tutors
  • A comprehensive, pre-admission support system, including individual Learning Support Agreements and ongoing assistance through the Learning Support Team, Disability Team or Mental Health Adviser
  • Notetakers, readers and laboratory support
  • Loans of equipment including digital recorders, laptops and wheelchairs
  • Help with applying for the Disabled Students' Allowance and other financial support

Library and IT services

Library and IT Services offer a number of services to assist users with disabilities, including book fetching, extended loans, assistive software and assistive technology booths.

The Advice and Representation Centre (ARC) resources

The ARC is part of the Guild of Students and their advisors can help students with personal, financial, academic, housing or any other issues and concerns.
